About The Position

The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting all technical aspects of an order to ensure the order is accurate from supply to customer delivery. Ensures the final battery configuration bill of materials is provided to the warehouse to execute. Manages the planning and training for all the technical activities in the warehouse, specifically commission charge and capacity test services and refresh charges to ensure inventory quality. You are responsible for all Quality standards related to the manufacturing process and ensuring adherence to the same. Ensure that processes and operators can produce product that meets requirements 100% of the time. This individual will be responsible for management of all aftermarket claims, both warranty and non-warranty, reporting monthly on claims status / trends, and identifying / executing corrective actions to reduce warranty claims. Additionally, support field service activities if assigned, internal /external / supplier audits as required and other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical systems (DC systems and batteries preferred).
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design Software for 2d applications
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of an ERP system and other standard productivity tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, and general software tools).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communications skills internally and externally.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six-Sigma training preferred.
  • Experience with PFMEAs / Control Plans, AS9100 Quality System, Internal Auditing and AS9100 FAIs are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provides the warehouse with final battery configuration, at least two weeks before the customer delivery due date.
  • Manages customer and factory Claim process by: Reviewing customer maintenance records, recommending / implementing corrective actions to reduce warranty returns / claims, making decisions on warranty resolution, providing management monthly reports on claims data.
  • Approves all technical reports associated with a customer order by: Reviewing outgoing open circuit voltage readings (OCV), commission charge OCV report, capacity test report and other data / reports as required.
  • Manages production and Quality control effort by: Developing / Maintaining Quality procedures. Training Quality control personnel. Supporting the testing of customer product returns and non-conforming product. Ensuring conformance to nonconforming material standard. Maintaining Production test tools.
  • Supports field Service Manager projects when required (might be required on occasion to go to the field). Internal / supplier and 3rd party audits as required. SES and continuous improvement efforts. Other projects as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Train and support warehouse personnel to ensure safe and competent technical execution of a customer order.
  • Manage and support incoming inspection of specific factory products, when required (example, OCV for grid-separator products)
  • Manage interaction with the factory quality team to resolve product issues.
