About The Position

The Industrial Engineer develops and implements CEC Facilities, LLC's IMS manufacturing processes, material flow, labor productivity, facility utilization, and operational performance in an electrical manufacturing and modular prefabrication environment. The position develops efficient production systems supporting electrical assemblies, panel skids, modular systems, and related fabricated products, and works with Production, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Maintenance, and Project Management to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. The role combines analytical skills with practical experience implementing improvements on the manufacturing floor. The position may involve working indoors or outdoors, exposure to varying weather and temperatures, and work at heights, in construction areas, restricted or confined spaces, and on uneven or slippery surfaces. Physical activities include frequent movement, climbing, bending, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds. The role may also involve extended computer work and requires normal or corrected vision and hearing, including the ability to distinguish color-coded wires. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required. The schedule is 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week, with overtime as required and night shifts as needed, including some nights and weekends. The position may require working around customers and their representatives while maintaining a professional and courteous presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of industrial engineering or manufacturing-process improvement experience.
  • Experience in electrical manufacturing, modular construction, electrical prefabrication, switchgear, control panels, or skid-mounted equipment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Visio, or similar facility-layout and process-mapping software.
  • Knowledge of engineered labor standards, cost estimating, capacity modeling, and capital-project justification.
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, ergonomic standards, and manufacturing safety practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all organizational levels, including production-floor personnel and senior leadership.
  • Ability to work 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week, with overtime as required and night shifts as needed; some nights and weekends may be required.
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds and perform the physical activities described, including climbing, crawling, kneeling, and overhead work.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work in the listed construction and manufacturing environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or similar continuous-improvement certification.
  • Experience supporting a new facility launch, production transfer, or major manufacturing expansion.
  • Experience developing operational reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize facility layouts, production cells, assembly lines, storage areas, and material-flow paths.
  • Analyze production processes, workflows, labor requirements, and material movement to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct time studies, work sampling, line-balancing analysis, and process observations.
  • Support manufacturing processes for electrical assemblies, modular electrical systems, panel skids, switchgear components, conduit assemblies, and related products.
  • Develop value-stream maps and recommend improvements to reduce waste, travel distance, handling, waiting time, and work-in-process inventory.
  • Lead Lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement initiatives, including 5S/6S, visual management, Kaizen events, root-cause analysis, and mistake-proofing.
  • Identify production constraints and recommend equipment, tooling, automation, workstation, and process improvements.
  • Assist with capital-equipment justification using cost-benefit analysis, labor savings, capacity improvements, and return-on-investment calculations.
  • Support new-product introduction by reviewing drawings, bills of material, routing requirements, tooling needs, and production readiness.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, standard operating procedures, process-flow diagrams, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with Quality to improve first-pass yield, reduce defects, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with Logistics and Purchasing to improve material presentation, point-of-use storage, replenishment systems, kitting, and vendor-managed inventory programs.
  • Support ergonomic assessments and develop solutions to reduce employee fatigue and workplace injury risks.
  • Assist Operations leadership with production planning, manpower forecasting, capacity analysis, and make-versus-buy evaluations.
  • Participate in safety reviews, risk assessments, and compliance activities.
  • Provide technical support during facility expansions, equipment installations, production transfers, and manufacturing-system implementations.
  • Monitor implemented improvements and verify that expected operational and financial results are sustained.
