About The Position

The Industrial Engineer supports Carrier’s applied chiller manufacturing operations by analyzing, designing, and optimizing production systems to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost performance. This role works cross-functionally with manufacturing engineering, production, quality, supply chain, and advanced engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure Carrier’s chiller manufacturing processes meet world-class operational standards. The Industrial Engineer plays a key role in capacity planning, labor optimization, workflow design, and implementation of lean manufacturing principles across the plant. This role is onsite in Charlotte, NC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years of industrial engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of CAD tools, data analysis software, and industrial engineering methodologies.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.

  • Familiarity with DOE (Design of Experiments), process capability tools, and advanced analytics.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools, data analysis software, and industrial engineering methodologies.

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with engineering, operations, and leadership teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes, material flow, and labor utilization to improve throughput and reduce waste.
  • Develop and maintain time studies, standard work, and labor models to support accurate staffing, line balancing, and productivity improvements.
  • Support NPIs by developing process plans, capacity models, and workflow changes aligned with chiller manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaborate with Advanced Engineering to integrate new equipment, automation, and technology into existing processes.
  • Evaluate process and equipment capabilities, identify constraints, and recommend solutions to improve performance.
  • Conduct cost analysis for capital projects and ensure compliance with Carrier’s EHS standards, promoting safe work practices and ergonomic improvements.
  • Lead Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, including Kaizen events, root-cause analysis, and waste-reduction projects.
  • Maintain process maps, PFMEAs, capacity models, and workflow diagrams.
