Raytheon is seeking an Industrial Engineer Section Manager to support factories within the Effectors portfolio by maximizing throughput, improving efficiency, and delivering increasing value to our customers. Industrial Engineers apply a wide range of methods including labor performance analysis, value stream mapping, line balancing, capacity and manpower planning, factory layout and simulation, strategic planning, project management, and continuous improvement. As a Section Manager, you will lead and develop a team of industrial engineers supporting multiple customers and manufacturing sites. This role supports multiple Raytheon programs and factories located in Farmington, NM and Tucson, AZ, with Tucson serving as the primary onsite location. Travel of up to 20% is required to support factories outside Arizona. This position requires strong leadership, project management, communication, and problem‑solving skills, along with expertise in industrial engineering within a manufacturing environment. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high‑complexity manufacturing environments
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • The ability to obtain program specific clearances as needed
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (MS, MBA) in engineering, operations, or management
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), scheduling tools, and proposal development
  • Experience with digital factory tools, simulation, or advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Demonstrated success leading lean transformations or production system improvements

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of ~12 industrial engineers, including hiring, staffing, goal setting, task assignment, coaching, performance evaluations, and approvals (timecards/expenses)
  • Provide mentorship, career development, and training opportunities to grow technical and leadership capabilities
  • Ensure all team members adhere to company policies, required training, safety standards, and ethical practices
  • Oversee industrial engineering project planning and execution to improve manufacturing processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs
  • Guide the development of key metrics and performance indicators, identifying opportunities to improve cost, quality, and schedule outcomes
  • Lead Lean transformation initiatives and factory modeling using process flows, value stream maps, Pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, capacity analyses, discrete-event simulations, and CAD-based layouts
  • Ensure resource plans and throughput constraints align with forecasted demand
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to eliminate waste, reduce variability, and improve on-time delivery
  • Partner with Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Control & Logistics, Facilities, EH&S, Engineering, and Quality to align priorities across multiple programs and sites
  • Influence factory roadmaps and investment decisions involving infrastructure, new technologies, and future-state capabilities
  • Provide oversight for IE support to proposals, new production contracts, and new product integration activities
  • Prepare and present clear, data-driven updates to senior leadership on performance, risks, insights, and opportunities
  • Advance the practice of industrial engineering across Raytheon through innovation, standardization, and knowledge sharing
