About The Position

Phoenix Contact’s OPEX and Quality Team is looking for a Fall 2026 Industrial Engineer - OPEX intern to assist with the implementation and follow through with OPEX and Lean manufacturing. Our Fall interns work part time around their class schedule. The assigned projects will include various continuous improvement efforts like line balancing, value stream mapping, BiTE (cost reduction initiatives) and technical documentation creation. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about continuous improvement, electronics manufacturing, and LEAN. A student would desire this internship because it would set them up for a rewarding career in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement. The student would also be able to list multiple projects and achievements to their resume early in their career.

Requirements

  • Engineering major; Industrial Engineering preferred
  • Must be a college student during internship
  • Look at a computer screen for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours)
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time (2-4 hours at a time)
  • Regular and on time attendance
  • Commute to Middletown, PA office

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation and follow through with OPEX and Lean manufacturing.
  • Work with mentor on assigned projects.
  • Continuous improvement efforts like line balancing, value stream mapping, BiTE (cost reduction initiatives) and technical documentation creation.
