About The Position

The Industrial Engineer II will analyze, design, and implement manufacturing and business process improvements at Abbott Diabetes Care in Alameda, California. This is an onsite position, Monday through Friday. The role focuses on increasing capacity, reducing lead time and work in process, and improving quality, cost, and delivery performance. The engineer will conduct capacity analyses, identify opportunities to apply Lean tools, make recommendations to improve product yield and manufacturability, and lead cross-functional continuous improvement projects that deliver business savings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study.
• Two to three years of overall and industry-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, create, and implement manufacturing and/or business process improvements to increase capacity, reduce lead time and work in process, and improve quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Complete internal capacity analyses for headcount, equipment, and space requirements using simulation software or other effective tools.
• Identify opportunities and drive incorporation of Lean tools, including 5S, time study, line balancing, standard work, material flow, value stream mapping, process mapping, and Kaizen events, into daily continuous improvement functions.
• Make recommendations to teams to drive higher-yielding, lower-cost, more manufacturable products.
• Use financial analysis tools as applicable and recommend alternative courses of action.
• Develop and lead continuous improvement projects, working cross-functionally to implement changes that deliver savings across the business.
