About The Position

Electrical Technicians have the responsibility to accept a variety of task assignments in the electrical area in both the Float and OE Fabrication facilities. They may also accept production assignments when necessary to meet business needs. This role involves identifying, recording, maintaining logs, and communicating any problems relating to the product or process. Adherence to all Federal, State, and Local requirements related to generating and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste material is expected, along with following all Plant/Company rules, policies, procedures, and contractual agreements. Team members have the authority to initiate, recommend, or provide solutions to problems through designated channels. Responsibilities include calibrating and checking instruments, responding quickly to emergency situations, performing routine maintenance on production equipment and repairing them when necessary, wiring machines and electrical panels in line with prints, and troubleshooting to identify problems and logical solutions. The role requires browsing blueprints and schematics and using an array of tools and diagnostic devices to service and install electrical components. The position also emphasizes quality responsibility, ensuring the maintenance of an effective QS9000 Quality system, and adherence to safety precautions, including enforcing all safety requirements and maintaining a safe working environment. Environmental responsibility includes operating in a manner consistent with the Pilkington Environmental Policy, ensuring compliance with environmental laws, preventing pollution, and encouraging continual improvement in environmental performance. Essential functions include inspecting and testing electrical components and systems, installing new industrial electrical systems, identifying and repairing electrical problems, reading blueprints and schematics, carrying out preventive maintenance, documenting repairs, adhering to safety policies, communicating effectively, performing electrical maintenance and preventative maintenance, working on projects, assisting in training others, and participating in various audits. The role also requires adherence to 5S and housekeeping standards, ensuring work meets required standards, participating in required training, and working at a safe, efficient, effective, and reasonable pace. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to work a 12-hour schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to perform prolonged periods of standing and walking, often exceeding 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to climb stairs, crouch, kneel, and maintain balance in various working environments.
  • Ability to use various PPE items including but not limited to safety glasses, hi-vis clothing, respiratory, etc.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift items over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work for extended periods during emergency repair work.
  • Physically capable of performing tasks safely and consistently in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test the operation of electrical components and systems.
  • Install new industrial electrical systems, including wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus.
  • Identify and repair electrical problems using a variety of testing devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime in the facility.
  • Document repairs and maintenance procedures for future reference.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with management, engineers, and co-workers about maintenance progress and challenges.
  • Perform electrical maintenance as required to maintain the operation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • Work on projects as scheduled or required to maintain the operation.
  • Assist in training others.
  • Participate in all audits: STOP Audits, GO Audits, internal audit, cross facility, management, and third-party registration audits.
  • Adhere to 5S and housekeeping standards.
  • Clean up work areas upon completion of tasks.
  • Ensure work meets required standards.
  • Participate in required training and successfully complete required assessments or testing to verify understanding and knowledge.
  • Work in a safe, efficient, effective, and reasonable pace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
