About The Position

Georgia-Pacific has an opening for an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician at our gypsum facility in Newington, NH. This is a skilled hourly position requiring a thorough understanding of safe work practices, troubleshooting and maintenance of manufacturing equipment.

Requirements

  • Basic working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and PLC-controlled equipment, with the ability to safely troubleshoot and support manufacturing operations
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience communicating effectively with team members across shifts and departments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical and controls systems in a manufacturing setting
  • Hands on experience troubleshooting recurring equipment failures, identifying root cause, and implementing corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment, PLC diagnostic, schematics and ladder logic to isolate faults and restore equipment safely and efficiently
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and industrial networks
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings and control schematics
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and improve PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair PLC hardware, motor starter circuits, relay logic circuits, and AC/DC drive systems
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and control system issues on manufacturing equipment
  • Seek to improve skill and knowledge assets, accept training as needed or required
  • Train other System and Electronic Technicians
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical documentation
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve production issues
  • Assist with installation, startup, and modification of control systems and equipment
  • Promote and support a strong safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime
  • Take ownership of equipment performance
  • Learn new technologies and challenge the status quo
  • Work overtime, weekends, and on-call as needed to support operations
