Join Caterpillar’s Morton Distribution Center as an Industrial Electrician and put your electrical and mechanical expertise to work in a stable, year-round, temperature-controlled environment. You’ll troubleshoot advanced electrical systems, automated equipment, CNC/PLC-controlled machinery, and complex material-handling systems while helping keep our operation safe and running efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3+ years of commercial, industrial, military, electrical, or electronic experience or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of mechanical installation/repair experience or equivalent.
  • Strong electrical/electronic troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Ability to pass a 2-hour Ramsay Electrical Maintenance assessment covering electrical theory, schematics, and safety.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to work around high-voltage electricity, heavy equipment, confined spaces, and elevated areas, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Conduit-bending experience

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, electronic, CNC, PLC, and relay logic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot automated material-handling systems, conveyor networks, VFDs, PLCs, and industrial equipment.
  • Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Use electrical testing and digital diagnostic equipment to identify electrical and electromechanical faults.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on facility power distribution systems and plant equipment.
  • Support the installation and startup of new electrical equipment.
  • Calibrate and maintain testing instruments.
  • Follow OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and NFPA 70E safety practices.
