About The Position

Silgan Containers is looking for an experienced Industrial Electrician / PLC Programmer to join their Menomonie, Wisconsin manufacturing team. This role is ideal for individuals with strong industrial electrical experience, particularly with Allen Bradley PLCs, VFDs, process controls, and automated manufacturing equipment. The position offers an opportunity to apply expertise in a high-speed environment while fostering career growth. The role involves keeping automated manufacturing operations running safely and efficiently, including programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining systems, as well as performing preventive maintenance and collaborating with other teams to resolve equipment issues and optimize performance. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and trade school certification.
  • 5+ years of experience as an industrial electrician or electrician programmer.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLC hardware and software.
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC circuits and 440 MCCs.
  • Experience with VFD installation and programming.
  • Knowledge of process controls, including sensors, switches, valves, and safety circuits.
  • Experience programming with Logix 5, Logix 500, and Studio 5000.
  • Strong manufacturing troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe manufacturing environment.

  • Experience troubleshooting automated, high-speed manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and create electrical blueprints, schematics, and detailed circuit layouts.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and maintain Allen Bradley PLC systems, including VFDs and 4–20 mA circuits.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and operational problems using advanced problem-solving techniques.
  • Install and wire motors, switch panels, fuse boxes, power circuits, and related electrical equipment.
  • Work with servo motor systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and vacuum systems.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot VFDs and process control equipment.
  • Work with sensors, switches, valves, safety circuits, and other automated controls.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and keep equipment operating reliably.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Help optimize equipment performance and support continuous improvement throughout the plant.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safe work practices and electrical safety.
