As a member of the YETI Industrial Design Team, this successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the YETI brand, a willingness to learn, and working knowledge of what it takes deliver great design. The Industrial Designer will champion industrial design efforts of new YETI products through understanding consumer wants and needs, creative problem solving, and communicating their ideas with the larger organization. A high level of teamwork and collaboration is paramount to the success of our organization, “No One Succeeds Alone!“

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design
• Greater than 5 years of experience in industrial design and development of commercialized consumer products
• Ability to travel internationally ~1x per year
• Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to generate new and novel solutions through strong connections with our consumers and communities
• Strong grasp of mechanical design principles that inform product architecture, component integration, and user‑centric design decisions
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Engaging story telling through 2D sketching and 3D modeling
• Ability to present to a non-technical audience and explain complex ideas
• Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D CAD modeling.
• Skilled in Keyshot for 3D rendering
• Advanced Adobe CS skills
• Rapid prototyping and finishing experience
• Knowledge and understanding of the product development process
• Experience working with global manufacturing partners
• Knowledgeable about manufacturing process with an emphasis on injection molding and metal forming
• Personal interest and experience with outdoor pursuits is a huge plus

Nice To Haves

• Advanced surfacing and assembly not required but a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead industrial design efforts through all phases of the design and development process with light support.
• Analyze and translate consumer insights into tangible YETI design ideas
• Conduct user studies to gain actionable feedback that is used to improve and validate our designs in real-world scenarios
• Conceptualize compelling ways of providing new value and innovation for our customers and end users
• Develop competitive product evaluations and benchmarking baselines
• Maintain and develop brand identity via the established YETI visual design language
• Contribute to the culture of our team through collaboration, a positive attitude and eagerness to go the extra mile.
