About The Position
Garmin is seeking a full-time Industrial Designer Intern for Spring 2027 at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. The intern will assist with the aesthetic and ergonomic development of projects and collaborate with Engineering, Marketing, Design, and Management teams to explore, innovate, and execute designs.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
- Relevant experience and/or training related to user interface design and behavior.
- Excellent academic record; a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is the general rule.
- Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Team-oriented, positive attitude, and respectful collaboration with others.
- Digital proficiency with tools such as SolidWorks, KeyShot, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Sketchbook Pro.
- Demonstrated interest in designing for at least one Garmin core market: Automotive (OEM), Automotive (Consumer), Aviation, Marine, Outdoor / Fitness, or Exhibit / Retail / Environmental.
Nice To Haves
- Ability to provide a portfolio of school projects demonstrating design skills, experience, and/or training.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Marketing, and Management teams to translate project goals into relevant solutions.
- Explore a wide variety of compelling design options.
- Communicate concepts and ideas verbally, visually, and in writing.
- Assist with the aesthetic and ergonomic development of projects.
