About The Position

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is seeking an Industrial Designer II to join their Electronics Product Engineering team in Phoenix. This role will be responsible for assisting in the development of drawings, high-fidelity renderings, and concept models for product exteriors, based on input from the VP of Design, engineering, and product team members. The position involves research into materials and proposing manufacturing processes, and may incorporate user research feedback into the design scope. The designer will work on concepts for guitar amplifiers, speakers, electronics products, accessories, and guitar components, collaborating with engineering, product marketing, and the VP of Design.

Requirements

  • Degree in Industrial Design or Equivalent
  • 3-5 Years Years’ Experience
  • Macintosh/PC based: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Freehand, Solidworks, InDesign, Word, Keyshot Rendering
  • Manual artwork skills: Good sketching skills, color as well as experience with Cintiq screen
  • Modeling (prototype) skills
  • Communication Skills (Interaction w/ others – Marketing/Engineering)
  • Creativity
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Open minded, self-motivated team player
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player

Nice To Haves

  • Some Knowledge with the selection of materials suitable for consumer product use.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing drawings, high fidelity renderings and concept models of outer designs of products.
  • Conduct user studies and compile results for feedback to R&D and the Product Team.
  • Design front and rear panel graphics, material coverings/finishes, componentry and concept design for guitar amplifiers, speakers and Electronics products, Accessories or Guitar componentry.
  • Work with engineers and Product Marketing on new projects for conceptual design work, including ergonomics, material or process issues.
  • Complete graphic renderings for presentation to Marketing for new product designs.
  • Assist graphic designer and technical writer with overflow work.
  • Minor interaction with vendors for materials.
  • Present design concepts.
  • Collaborate with people from different organizations in the company.
