About The Position

Biewer Wisconsin Sawmill is looking to add a full time Industrial Controls Technician to our team in Prentice, WI, where industrial control expertise will directly impact the success of our fast paced operations. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, modification, maintenance, service and repair of industrial control systems including interpreting blueprints and manufacturers' specifications. Requirements

  • Experience in heavy industrial environment
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong use of Rockwell software to implement, edit or design logic/code to improve machine performance
  • Ability to edit, modify and design human machine interface (HMI)
  • Basic electrical theory/advanced controls
  • Applications of Industrial Sensors – Infrared, Proximity, Limit Switches, etc.
  • Advanced use of PLC software utilization – Ladder Logic, Programming and Troubleshooting
  • Control Logix (Allen Bradley)
  • Electrical Control Systems – Energy Management and Electronic Controls
  • Networking (cable making, troubleshooting, camera systems and set up protocols for communications in control systems)
  • Editing equipment/asset monitoring (Ope8) and create/modify system updates
  • Program variable frequency drives (Allen-Bradley)
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Two years of formal technical training in the principles of electricity and electrical design, PLCs or five (5) years of experience in electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCad preferred
  • Basic hydraulic and mechanical knowledge including Delta RMC (preferred)
  • State electrician licensure or certification desired.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair and modify industrial control systems, instrumentation in accordance with relevant codes and from blueprints, schematics and sketches.
  • Complete preventive maintenance programs for control systems and manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot production equipment (plcs, vfds, motors, switches, starters, and control panel wiring) using electrical, controls and mechanical aptitude.
  • Observe all safety rules, policies, and precautions. Reports and corrects unsafe work conditions. Submit safety ideas to Safety Committee Members. Complete required safety and regulatory training.
  • Diagnose repairs and implement process flow improvements to industrial control systems, analog and digital applications. Work with outside contractors and vendors on controls and improvement projects.
  • Communicate with electrical, maintenance team and management of any equipment that is not operating properly.
  • Quote and coordinate electrical projects with vendors, purchasing components and establish timelines.
  • Interpret equipment reporting and diagnose accordingly (i.e. downtime reports.)
  • Prepare reports for work progress and preventative maintenance documents for maintaining equipment.
  • Follow established departmental housekeeping, safety practices and standard operation procedures.
  • Provide ideas, innovation and suggestions for continuous improvement and opportunities.
