About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Industrial Controls & Systems Technician to support the technology, connectivity, and systems that keep manufacturing operations running efficiently. This role sits at the intersection of manufacturing, automation, operational technology (OT), and IT, providing day-to-day support for production systems while helping deploy new equipment and Industry 4.0 technologies. The ideal candidate has experience working directly in a manufacturing environment and is comfortable troubleshooting everything from an industrial PC or network connection to MES applications, machine communications, barcode systems, and production databases.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 3–5+ years of experience within a manufacturing, industrial automation, controls, or industrial systems environment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial equipment and machine communications.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking and Ethernet-based communication systems.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively to production-critical issues.
  • Ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation.
  • Experience with OPC UA and other industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience supporting machine vision or industrial camera systems.
  • Knowledge of barcode scanning and thermal transfer printing technologies.
  • Experience supporting industrial PCs and Windows-based manufacturing systems.
  • Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Exposure to SQL Server, production databases, and manufacturing data.
  • Experience integrating manufacturing equipment with plant or enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain manufacturing technology systems to maximize production uptime and efficiency.
  • Maintain Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), production databases, dashboards, reporting tools, and shop-floor applications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, system, and connectivity issues affecting production.
  • Deploy upgrades, enhancements, and new manufacturing applications.
  • Maintain system configurations, documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Provide technical support and training to production system users.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain industrial network infrastructure and connected manufacturing devices.
  • Troubleshoot communications between machines, controls, servers, and enterprise systems.
  • Support industrial communication technologies including OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, and TCP/IP.
  • Maintain reliable data collection and communication between manufacturing equipment and business systems.
  • Install, configure, and support: Industrial PCs and HMIs, Vision systems and industrial cameras, Barcode readers, Thermal transfer printers, Inspection systems, Network switches, Industrial communication devices.
  • Implement and maintain Operational Technology cybersecurity standards and best practices.
  • Support patching and upgrades for industrial computers, devices, and production systems.
  • Manage user access and security permissions for manufacturing applications.
  • Ensure manufacturing technology complies with corporate cybersecurity requirements.
  • Participate in OT cybersecurity assessments and remediation activities.
  • Help balance cybersecurity requirements with production uptime and operational needs.
  • Support deployment and integration of new manufacturing equipment and automation technologies.
  • Participate in projects connecting production equipment with MES, databases, and other business systems.
  • Support machine data collection, production monitoring, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Partner with Engineering and Maintenance during equipment installations, startups, and upgrades.
  • Improve manufacturing data visibility and system connectivity to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Continuous Improvement, IT, and external technology vendors.
  • Coordinate technology deployments and system upgrades with plant stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot production technology issues with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Support additional domestic and international manufacturing locations as needed.
  • Communicate technical issues and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical users.
