About The Position

Noblis MSD is looking to hire an Industrial Controls Systems Engineer for a long-term multi-year contract to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD). This role involves developing, designing, and life cycle managing complex machinery control system modernization efforts applied to US Navy and US Coast Guard Ships. The engineer will perform design, development, modeling/simulation, and integration for Naval shipboard control systems applications in a lab environment. Responsibilities include developing equipment integration designs for networking, SCADA, simulators, and other test tools/systems, implementing cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems, developing software using various programming languages, conducting PLC engineering development, developing and deploying industrial application/system user interfaces and database interfaces, supporting shipboard implementation and validation efforts, and developing technical documentation packages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Associates Degree with 3 years work experience, or High School diploma with 6 years of experience in industrial engineering.
  • CompTIA Security + Certification (or able to get within 6 months of hire on)
  • Travel 20% of time.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Access, Microsoft Vision and Microsoft Suite of products.
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with industrial control systems
  • US Citizen and DOD Secret or the ability to obtain a DOD secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise with the following programming languages: Visual Basic, Relay Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Structured Control Language (SCL)
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following Java, C#, C++, Python
  • Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams
  • Proficiency in the use of test and diagnostic tools associated with industrial control systems
  • Expertise and demonstrated experience with industrial communications protocols such as EthernetIP, Profibus, Profinet, and Serial communication protocols

Responsibilities

  • Perform design, development, modeling/simulation, and integration for Naval shipboard control systems applications in a lab environment.
  • Develop equipment integration designs for networking, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems), simulators/simulators, and other test tools/systems.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices and hardening for industrial control systems
  • Develop software using Java, C#, C++, Python, and Visual Basic.
  • Conduct PLC engineering development utilizing Rockwell Studio 5000 and Siemens SIMATIC Step 7 / TIA Portal
  • Develop and deploy industrial application/system user interfaces, database interfaces, device interfaces, and related analytics
  • Support Shipboard implementation of industrial control systems with specific applications for machinery controls and validation efforts.
  • Develop technical documentation packages.
