Nucor Steel Lexington is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Industrial Automation Engineer. This role involves designing, implementing, and configuring new automation systems, upgrading older machinery to new control platforms, and enhancing existing manufacturing lines. The engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting and modifying level 1 systems, including PLCs, HMIs, industrial communication networks, distributed remote I/O, drives and motor controls, and hydraulic controls. A key aspect of the role is performing deep analysis of failures in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and evaluating feasible solutions, including modifications to control logic. The position requires developing control systems using specific PLC and HMI platforms and programming packages. Additionally, the engineer will design and maintain network layouts for various protocols, develop an optical fiber network ring, and manage industrial process automation networking. Responsibilities include using specific software like Oracle ERP, Minitab, VBA, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and AutoCAD, as well as configuring and troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems, Networking, virtualization, and Databases for Control System Applications. The role also involves conducting training, developing standard operating procedures, increasing efficiency within level 1 automation systems, defining and approving engineering for new automation projects, and collaborating with maintenance and production teams. Developing automation system trainings and defining required spare parts, suppliers, and inventory levels are also part of the duties.
