About The Position

The Indigenous Youth Housing Intern is a 9-month internship designed to provide Indigenous youth with hands-on experience in housing operations and community development. Reporting to the Director of Housing the successful candidate will gain practical skills in housing administration, maintenance, construction, tenant relations, and related areas while receiving mentorship and training to support future career opportunities. This internship is funded in part through CMHC's Indigenous Youth Housing Internship Program and is intended to support Indigenous youth in developing valuable skills and experience within the housing sector. Requirements

  • Indigenous youth eligible under the Indigenous Youth Housing Internship Program (First Nation, Métis, or Inuit).
  • Interest in housing, construction, maintenance, administration, or community development.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in training opportunities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills are an asset.
  • Criminal Record Check and Intervention Record Check.

  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with housing administration, record keeping, and tenant communications.
  • Support housing maintenance, inspections, repairs, and renovation projects.
  • Participate in housing construction and community development initiatives.
  • Learn housing management, financial administration, and lands management practices.
  • Participate in training, certifications, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records, timesheets, and program documentation.
  • Support community outreach and housing-related programs.
