This position reports to the Supervisor, Indigenous Engagement, within the External Affairs team, which is part of Pembina’s Legal, People and Corporate Affairs division. The External Affairs Service team integrates Land, Communications, and Government Relations to support projects and ongoing business operations, ensuring proper governance and controls.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of related experience, preferably within the pipeline or energy industry.
  • Working knowledge of processes, protocols, and regulatory requirements related to Indigenous issues, reconciliation, and land claims.
  • Working knowledge of the Stakeholder Engagement Record Management System (SERMS).
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to cross-cultural issues, with a positive, collaborative, and team-oriented approach when working with others.
  • Ability to travel to field offices and operating communities to support consultations and build meaningful relationships.
  • Must be legally able to work in the country of the position.
  • Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Community Development, Indigenous history, or a related field is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”.
  • Lead consultation activities on projects that support provincial and federal regulatory applications and permitting processes.
  • Support development and implementation of Relationship Agreements, including community specific objectives and commitments.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to integrate Indigenous knowledge, concerns, and priorities into project planning and decision-making.
  • Act as a key point of contact for Indigenous communities across parts of Pembina’s operating areas.
  • Support relationship building with Indigenous communities by coordinating meetings, attending events, tracking engagement activities, and helping ensure respectful, culturally appropriate communication throughout project lifecycles.
  • Support the data needs of the Indigenous Business Registry.
  • Support economic development initiatives in parts of Pembina’s operating areas.
  • Support Indigenous procurement initiatives to increase spend with Indigenous-owned and partnered businesses across Pembina’s operating areas.
