About The Position

This is a field-based, independent sales representative role for the Chicago, IL territory, requiring up to 70% travel. The position is remote, but candidates must reside within the assigned territory. As an Independent Sales Representative (1099), you will have the autonomy to build your own business, grow a market, and establish partnerships with schools and communities, backed by the Jostens brand. You will be responsible for signing new business, developing prospects, and managing relationships with schools, representing the Jostens brand with integrity.

Requirements

  • Entrepreneurial self-starter with a desire to build their own business.
  • Proven experience in consultative, educational, or B2C sales and/or sales management.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and takes ownership of success.
  • Track record of developing new business and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Strong financial and operational understanding to run your own business effectively.
  • Confident partnering with diverse stakeholders, from administrators to students.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and nationally (amount varies by territory).
  • 2+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales through prospecting, lead generation, and expanding market share.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with school administrators, advisors, teachers, and students.
  • Guide school leadership on Jostens products and services to support their goals.
  • Maintain your own independent office and manage all business expenses, including travel.
  • Recruit, train, and compensate office and sales support as needed.
  • Follow all laws applicable to your independent business.
  • Uphold Jostens’ values of accountability, integrity, responsibility, and respect.
