About The Position

Project Genesis, a Connecticut nonprofit organization, is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated individuals to join their Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Program as Independent Living Skills Trainers (ILSTs). This role offers an opportunity to help individuals with acquired brain injuries develop the skills and confidence needed to live more independently. The organization welcomes experienced human services professionals, recent graduates, veterans, retirees, and those seeking a meaningful career change.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma (or equivalent) plus at least two (2) years of verifiable experience working with individuals with brain injuries, OR a bachelor's degree plus at least one (1) year of verifiable brain injury-related experience
  • Reliable transportation
  • A valid driver's license
  • At least three (3) years of a safe driving record
  • Proof of automobile insurance and current auto registration
  • Flexibility to travel to client locations
  • Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Person-Centered certifications (or the ability to obtain them, if applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Teaching daily living skills such as cooking, budgeting, shopping, job readiness, and using public transportation
  • Coaching clients in problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Monitoring progress and documenting client achievements
  • Supporting clients in meeting health, safety, and personal goals
  • Connecting individuals with community resources that promote independence and success
  • Encouraging confidence, self-advocacy, and personal growth
