About The Position

We are seeking a reliable, patient, and attentive Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor to provide one-on-one afternoon support for an individual with Mild Intellectual Disability. Services will focus on increasing independence in daily living skills, community navigation with safety training and the community gym. This is perfect for a candidate who wants to help a young person become more independent.

Requirements

Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, and elopement.
Patient, dependable, and adaptable approach.
Strong communication and observation skills.
Ability to provide hands-on assistance as needed.
Two forms of valid identification.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Live Scan fingerprint clearance.
Current TB test clearance.

Nice To Haves

Spanish speaking preferred.
Male preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance, support while attending the gym.
Encourage independence while offering assistance as needed.
Help establish consistent exercise routine.
Provide guidance and supervision during community outings.
Assist with safely navigating environments, particularly unfamiliar or high-traffic areas.
Offer orientation support and mobility assistance as needed.
Provide additional guidance to safely navigate environments.
Provide orientation support, or introduce adaptive strategies or technology (e.g., tactile organization systems or GPS tools designed for elopement).
Adapt tasks involving written or visual information.
Support needs that may require additional training or preparation to ensure effective, safe, and respectful services.
