Hearts With A Mission’s Independent Living Program (ILP) assists youth age 14-23 who are, or were in foster care (for at least 180 days, after the age of 13) to take the next steps in their lives to gain life skills and become independent adults. The program teaches youth valuable skills to make a successful transition from foster care to independent living. POSITION SUMMARY The Independent Living Program (ILP) Skills Trainer creates, provides, and coordinates services and activities with assigned DHS clients ages 14-23 years of age. The ILP Skills Trainer will provide mentorship, skill building, and emotional support to clients and their guardian(s), as needed, in an effort to increase the client’s independent living skills. The ILP Skills Trainer will cultivate positive relationships, build independent living skills, and help clients move forward towards a safe and healthy lifestyle. Performs assignments with supervision or independently, requiring initiative and judgment in conduct of work. All work is performed in compliance with organizational guidelines and policies, as well as all applicable laws. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED The ILP Skills Trainer reports directly to the Independent Living Program (ILP) Coordinator. This is not a supervisory position. This position has an introductory period of three (3) months.
