We are seeking a reliable, patient, and attentive Independent Living Services (ILS) Instructor to provide one-on-one afternoon support on Tuesdays for an individual with Mild Intellectual Disability and Epilepsy. Services will focus on increasing independence in daily living skills, community navigation, and household responsibilities while ensuring safety and accessibility. The ideal candidate is adaptable, observant, and comfortable supporting an individual with visual impairment. The primary goals of support include improving personal hygiene and self-care routines, supporting safe and confident community navigation, assisting with household chores and organization, and developing meal preparation and meal planning skills. The role involves providing guidance and support with personal hygiene routines, encouraging independence, helping establish consistent daily routines, assisting with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the home, breaking tasks into manageable steps, adapting methods to accommodate visual impairment, supporting planning simple, nutritious meals, assisting with safe meal preparation and kitchen navigation, adapting cooking tasks, providing guidance and supervision during community outings, assisting with safely navigating environments, and offering orientation support and mobility assistance. The individual’s visual impairment may present unique challenges that staff must be prepared to address, including additional guidance for navigation and safety, orientation support, mobility assistance, or adaptive strategies/technology. Tasks involving written or visual information may require adaptation, and staff may assist with reading mail, organizing household items, or supporting the use of voice-activated or accessibility-focused technology. Supporting these needs may require additional training or preparation. The individual’s location may present logistical considerations, including limited staff availability and transportation barriers. This is a one-on-one support in home and community settings role with a Tuesday-only afternoon schedule, designed to be structured, supportive, and safety-focused.
