About The Position

The Incoming Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying incoming electromechanical components, subassemblies, and materials to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards. This role is critical in preventing nonconforming material from entering production and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Management System (QMS). The inspector performs visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using calibrated tools and test equipment, accurately documents inspection results, and communicates discrepancies to Quality Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, solid knowledge of electronic and electromechanical components, and the ability to interpret engineering documentation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control inspection role within an electronics or electromechanical manufacturing environment
  • Experience inspecting electronic, electromechanical, or power electronics components and assemblies
  • Strong understanding of inspection methods, documentation practices, and quality standards
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Capability to handle small components and perform repetitive inspection tasks with accuracy and precision

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or certification in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620) preferred
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and ERP/MRP systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming quality inspections on PCBs, mechanical components, cables, wire harnesses, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Verify supplier documentation including Certificates of Conformance (CoC), test reports, and material certifications for accuracy and completeness
  • Conduct sampling inspections in accordance with AQL standards (ANSI/ASQ Z1.4)
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
  • Use calibrated measurement tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and electrical test equipment
  • Strictly adhere to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) procedures when handling sensitive electronic components
  • Identify, label, document, and segregate nonconforming material
  • Initiate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and support Material Review Board (MRB) activities as required
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation in ERP and quality systems
  • Support internal and external audits and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
