About The Position

The Johnston County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for an Income Maintenance Supervisor II Adult Medicaid position, located at 714 North Street, Smithfield. Located in the eastern half of North Carolina and part of the Research Triangle Region, Johnston County is part of the fastest growing region of the state. Johnston County is the fastest growing county in the state with a population of 216,000 residents. Hiring salary range is commensurate with experience and excellent benefits package available. Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the NC FAST system.
  • Some knowledge of EIS.
  • Ability to recognize, collect, and evaluate evidence to support actions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with applicants, community agencies, law enforcement agencies, and judiciary personnel to obtain or present pertinent data, and to negotiate agreements and/or cooperation between affected parties.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the general public, and the judicial system.
  • Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
  • Ability to present information orally or in written form.
  • Three years of experience as a caseworker or investigator in an income maintenance program.
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and direct Income Maintenance workers as a Universal Supervisor, including Family and Children Medicaid, Adult Medicaid, and Food and Nutrition Services.
  • Answer general inquiries by phone or in person and make referrals to other program areas or agencies in the community when needed.
  • Read, understand and adhere to program policy and guidelines set by the state.
  • Interview and communicate effectively with customers, other agency personnel, and the general public in person and via phone.
  • Maintain and monitor continual compliance for all program requirements and respond to customer's need for assistance regarding their eligibility.
  • Ensure training needs are met for staff.
  • Evaluate caseworker's work performance.
  • Assign home visits as necessary as well as arranging transportation if needed for a client to get to a particular place to get information that is needed to complete an application or review.
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as Shelter or Emergency Management duties during a disaster.
