As an Income Maintenance Caseworker II – NEMT, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring Alamance County Medicaid recipients have reliable access to medical care by coordinating non-emergency transportation services. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, helping people navigate systems, and managing details in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or public-contact experience involving tasks such as interviewing, negotiating, explaining information, data collection/analysis, or mathematical/legal work
  • High school diploma and two years of similar experience, including at least one year in an income-maintenance program
  • Associate degree in Human Services Technology, Social Services, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related field
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least one year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker, or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and authorizing Non-Emergency Medicaid Transportation (NEMT) services
  • Logging and tracking trip requests, approvals, denials, and required notifications
  • Verifying Medicaid eligibility at the time of request and prior to service delivery
  • Conducting eligibility determinations and re-determinations through assessments
  • Documenting eligibility decisions and maintaining accurate transportation records
  • Uploading payment authorizations and reviewing response files in NC Tracks
  • Operating the NEMT phone system, responding to calls and messages within 24 hours
  • Collaborating with transportation vendors, community partners, and internal teams
  • Processing mileage reimbursement and other travel-related expenses
