About The Position

The University of Ottawa Library is seeking an innovative, motivated, and service-oriented Inclusion Librarian (Replacement). Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) from an institution accredited by the American Library Association or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience, or fewer if the experience is particularly pertinent to the position.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • Awareness of the needs of and challenges faced by underrepresented populations.
  • Experience in developing, building and sustaining partnerships, preferably in an academic setting.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with people of varying backgrounds.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to a changing environment.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Capacity to identify areas of opportunity and to develop and implement innovative solutions to respond to them.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of other languages will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Establish relationships and engage with relevant campus services, student groups, and community organizations, working collaboratively to support positive and inclusive student experiences.
  • Coordinate outreach activities to engage with underserved student populations.
  • Evaluate library programs and services to ensure they are inclusive and accessible, and propose recommendations based on best practices for universal design.
  • Maintain current awareness of and apply relevant developments in area(s) of expertise.
  • Work effectively to carry out activities and projects with groups of people in a variety of environments, including the Library, the University, and with external communities and partners.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Inclusion, Accessibility & Outreach.
