About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) aims to strengthen individuals, families, and communities for a better quality of life, serving over 3 million Arizonans. The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Incident Management Specialist. This position involves coaching, teaching, mentoring, and providing direct support to members with Developmental Disabilities (such as autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, or epilepsy), ranging from mild to profound. The majority of services are designed to meet the personal needs of members in Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) and group home settings. DDD provides flexible, high-quality, and member-driven services and supports, enabling individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to exercise independent decision-making and engage in the community. Applicants must not be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, have a principal interest in or a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, or be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.

  • Ability to: Prioritize and meet time lines in addition to assisting with timely projects, reports, memos, etc.
  • Ability to: Screen and route correspondence and request follow up
  • Ability to: Learn, interpret and apply Division & Department programs, policies and procedures
  • Possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks if driving is an essential function.
  • Maintain acceptable driving records and complete all required driver training if driving on state business.
  • Maintain the statutorily required liability insurance if operating a personally owned vehicle on state business.
  • Have a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1968 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Subject to a search of both the Department of Child Safety Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.
  • Successfully pass background and reference check.
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or a vulnerable population
  • Experience conducting investigations (highly desirable)
  • Experience utilizing various computer programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Database systems, etc.) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of investigations, conducting investigations, and completing investigation reports.
  • Compile reports and send via interoffice mail to each support coordinator.
  • Entry of incident report into the Incident Management Systems (IMS), notification of key personnel (including Support Coordination, Quality Assurance and Region Administration) of these incidents, and the tracking of this communication and follow up.
  • Research each incident report through the Client Application database and the District Employee Directory in order to ensure member, vendor and internal distribution information is correct.
  • Receives incident reports via fax, email and verbal notification. Performs initial review for seriousness and priority before compiling for Quality Assurance Review.
  • Conducts training and technical assistance for qualified vendors/service providers and division staff
  • Drives to and from licensed settings to complete health and safety reviews.
