About The Position

The Inbound & Outbound Freight Specialist is responsible for coordinating inbound shipment scheduling and outbound trailer load planning to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely flow of merchandise through the distribution center. This role supports overall DC operations by optimizing trailer utilization, preventing bottlenecks, and aligning inbound and outbound activity with operational capacity. The position works cross-functionally with warehouse, transportation, and inventory teams to maintain workflow efficiency and support eCommerce and store fulfillment priorities. This role partners closely with the DC Assistant Manager to support daily execution, align priorities, and ensure efficient flow across inbound, outbound, and eCommerce operations.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve operational issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced warehouse, distribution, or logistics environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and assign outbound loads based on delivery schedules and priorities.
  • Optimize trailer space and ensure safe loading practices.
  • Verify load accuracy including product, quantity, and destination.
  • Coordinate staging with warehouse teams.
  • Communicate load details with carriers and internal teams.
  • Audit outbound freight to ensure accuracy of product, quantities, and destinations prior to shipment.
  • Monitor and adjust loads to prevent delays.
  • Schedule inbound shipments to align with DC capacity and labor.
  • Coordinate appointments with vendors and carriers.
  • Prevent dock congestion and bottlenecks.
  • Adjust schedules based on operational needs.
  • Partner with receiving teams for timely unloading.
  • Resolve load discrepancies such as shortages or damages.
  • Ensure accurate WMS records.
  • Support inventory accuracy and corrections.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Support other DC functions as needed.
  • Identify process improvements.
  • Assist leadership with daily operations.
