About The Position

The In Town Driver operates in a local transportation system serving poultry plants, shuttling loads and equipment between locations in Fort Smith and/or Muldrow. The role communicates with dispatch to provide efficient service to customers and works under the direction of a move planner. The position is in the Transportation department in Arkansas, on a third shift scheduled from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Applicants residing in Arkansas are asked to apply for this requisition.

Requirements

• Class-A CDL driver’s license.
• 12 months of verifiable experience.
• No major driving violations.
• Ability to pass a D.O.T. physical and drug test.
• Less than a high school education, up to one month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
• Ability to calculate hours of service, complete log book pages, and calculate and report hours worked.
• Ability to follow detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Deliver trailers on time as directed by dispatch.
• Work under the direction of a move planner and frequently perform drop-and-hook moves.
• Rotate equipment to service providers for maintenance.
• Provide customer service to plants with a service-oriented attitude.
• Maintain complete and accurate records of trailer movements.
• Comply with all DOT and state driver training and documentation requirements.
• Perform other duties as required by dispatch or management.
