Literacy Mid-South (LMS) has been dedicated to changing lives through literacy for over 50 years. Originally founded in 1974 to assist adults with reading skills, LMS now serves learners of all ages in the Mid-South region. Our mission is to equip individuals and families with the literacy skills necessary for academic, economic, and personal success. We strive to break cycles of low literacy and create opportunities for future generations through direct programs and regional cooperation. At LMS, literacy is viewed as a catalyst for empowerment, equity, and lasting community change. The Tutor901 Lead Tutor is essential for the smooth daily operation of Tutor901 tutoring sessions at specified school sites. This role involves overseeing tutoring sessions, assisting tutors with lesson delivery and student needs, facilitating communication between tutors and program management, aiding in data collection and reporting, and ensuring tutors have the necessary materials for effective literacy instruction. The Lead Tutor acts as a bridge between tutors and Tutor901 program leadership, expected to demonstrate professionalism, dependability, good judgment, and strong communication skills. While providing guidance and support, this position does not involve supervision or disciplinary actions towards tutors, nor direct communication with school staff without prior approval from the Tutor901 Program Manager. In situations where a substitute tutor is unavailable, the Lead Tutor may be tasked with delivering small-group reading instruction to students. Tutor901's model emphasizes in-person tutoring during school hours, consistent student groups, and continuous training and support.
