About The Position

The In-Room Dining Cashier is responsible for taking accurate guest orders by phone, entering orders into the POS system, coordinating service with the kitchen and delivery staff, and providing exceptional guest service. This role requires menu knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to upsell food and beverage items to enhance the guest experience and maximize revenue.

Requirements

  • Previous cashier or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
  • Knowledge of wine, beer, liquor, and beverage offerings.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and hotel communication systems preferred.
  • Strong guest service and communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion with sensitive information.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • TIPS® alcohol awareness certification required upon employment.
  • Valid Food Handler Card required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record may be required for golf cart deliveries.
  • Must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local alcohol service laws and health regulations.
  • Must be available to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the property.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and balancing.
  • Ability to work in kitchen, dining, and guest room environments with exposure to heat, weather conditions, noise, slippery floors, sharp objects, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to safely handle hot plates, trays, and glassware.
  • Close visual acuity and hearing required for guest interaction and order accuracy.
  • Wear non-slip, oil-resistant shoes.
  • Follow all OSHA, PPE, and hotel safety procedures.
  • Report defective equipment or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain compliance with hotel HAZMAT and MSDS procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Answer in-room dining calls promptly and professionally.
  • Accurately enter guest orders into the POS system, including special requests and dietary needs.
  • Describe menu items, preparation methods, and pricing to guests.
  • Recommend and upsell food and beverage items.
  • Ensure orders are posted to the correct guest account.
  • Coordinate with servers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders.
  • Process guest payments and close transactions accurately.
  • Balance all payment methods and reconcile sales reports.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and storage areas.
  • Follow all hotel safety policies and procedures, including PPE and HAZMAT guidelines.
  • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or maintenance concerns to management immediately.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Assist with In-Room Dining Server duties as needed.
  • Respond to guest and internal requests via phone, email, or radio communication.
  • Monitor and follow up on open service tickets.
  • Resolve guest concerns within scope of authority and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Report unusual incidents, missing items, or security concerns to management or Security.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
