About The Position

The In House Used Car Buyer will have a primary responsibility of executing a process which involves prospecting, appraising, and presenting offers to current vehicle owners with the goal of purchasing their vehicles from multiple sources for resale.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Excellent communication and customer focus skills.
  • Ability to meet company’s production and quality standards.
  • Outstanding Computer skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1-2 years of Used Car Buyer dealership experience.
  • Mercedes-Benz brand or luxury brand experience.
  • Previous dealership, selling or marketing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with current used vehicle owners through the service drive and multiple other avenues to appraise and present purchase offers for their vehicles.
  • Utilize Sonic Automotive automated inventory management system to track and manage vehicle acquisitions.
  • Appraise used vehicles and determine fair market value based on condition, mileage, and market trends.
  • Understand market trends and changes within the geographic market to inform pricing strategies.
  • Attend daily trade walks and sales meetings.
  • Provide guidance and support to Sales Associates regarding used vehicle purchasing opportunities.
  • Introduce vehicle owners to sales department personnel to facilitate new vehicle sales following their trade-in.
  • Maintain a prospect development system and follow-up schedule to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Establish and achieve personal income goals consistent with dealership productivity standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of federal, state, and local automotive sales regulations, vehicle equity, depreciation, and product features.
  • Attend product and sales training courses as requested by management.
  • Maintain professional appearance and interact positively with colleagues and guests to support dealership guest satisfaction objectives.
