About The Position

Join the team at Hyundai Santa Monica and take ownership of a critical part of our dealership’s success as a Used Car Buyer. We’re seeking an experienced automotive professional with a sharp eye for inventory, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to acquire the right vehicles at the right time in a competitive market. This role demands a dedicated and skilled professional who will utilize a variety of resources to connect with private sellers interested in selling their vehicles.

Requirements

Minimum of one year of experience in acquisition and used car buying
Highly self-motivated with the ability to set and achieve goals
Excellent communication, prospecting, and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and follow-up abilities
Comfortable using technology and research tools
Ability to assess vehicle value and make sound purchasing decisions
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
You must have or acquire a valid California Vehicle Salesperson License
18 years or older required
All potential employees must pass pre-employment testing including a background check and drug screen

Nice To Haves

Kelley Blue Book certification is highly preferred

Responsibilities

Source used vehicle inventory from various channels including the dealership's service drive, internet leads, and street purchases
Leverage market data and negotiation skills to secure vehicles at competitive prices
Negotiate terms of purchase, including payment terms and delivery conditions
Analyze market trends to inform strategic buying decisions
Utilize data analytics tools to identify high-demand vehicle models for acquisition
Track vehicles through delivery channels to ensure timely arrival to the dealership
Determine reconditioning needs and associated costs accurately
Explore and evaluate new methods for vehicle acquisition, including digital platforms and partnerships
