About The Position

Kemper is seeking Legal Counsel to work in the Alpharetta, Georgia area. The role offers the opportunity to strategize cases, exercise sound business judgment, and work with a sense of urgency. The attorney handles legal work on assigned cases referred to Staff Counsel by the Claims Department, while maintaining organized case files and communicating significant case activity to claims handlers. The position requires travel as needed.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a trial attorney.
• Membership in the State Bar and maintenance of all necessary licensing and continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Handle legal work on assigned cases.
• Aggressively pursue files referred to Staff Counsel by the Claims Department.
• Create and maintain a documented strategy for handling each assigned case, including a synopsis of intangible factors such as the judge, plaintiff attorney, and aggravating factors.
• Develop, organize, and maintain document files containing pleadings, briefs, and memorandums.
• Prepare and submit timely status reports to claims handlers on significant activities as they occur, and at intervals no greater than 60 days.
• Ensure all files are properly documented and organized.
• Respond promptly and timely to telephone calls and correspondence.
• Use or ensure use of case management software to maintain case notes, diary, calendar, and billing in accordance with company guidelines, procedures, and legal and ethical requirements.
• Travel as needed.
