About The Position

LifeGift is seeking an In-House Donation System Specialist to join their team in the Houston area. This role is crucial in fostering positive communication and developing strategic plans to achieve donation goals at high donor potential hospitals. The specialist will work with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to facilitate organ and tissue donation, improve processes, and provide education on the donation program. This position requires a solution-based approach, timely onsite responses to referrals, collaboration with the Administrator-on-Call, and compassionate engagement with potential donor families. The role involves frequent travel between hospitals within a designated region and requires flexibility for non-traditional hours and reliable transportation. A condition of employment includes obtaining a Hospital Badge and EMR Access from LifeGift Hospital Partners.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or a combined total of 5 years education and experience in healthcare, marketing, or related field.
Must be able to interpret and synthesize clinical information from medical charts.
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
Must be able to attain Hospital Badge and EMR Access from all of the LifeGift Hospital Partners.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of two years of OPO or healthcare experience.
Experience in public speaking, sales/marketing, data analysis, and/or strategic planning.

Responsibilities

Engage with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff using a solution-based approach to facilitate organ/tissue donation and foster process improvement initiatives.
Provide timely onsite responses to organ referrals in assigned hospitals.
Collaborate with LifeGift’s Administrator-on-Call (AOC) to determine the suitability of organ referrals and outline next steps after initial evaluation of potential organ donors.
Plan, implement, and administer training and education on all aspects of the donation program for applicable hospital staff, including medical staff, with the goal of improving metrics.
Determine the appropriate approach strategy for the potential donor’s next-of-kin to ensure a compassionate, sensitive, and effective offer of organ and tissue donation.
