About The Position

LifeGift is seeking an In-House Donation System Specialist for the Houston area to join their mission of hope. This role involves working with an incredible team to save lives while modeling the values of Passion, Compassion, and Professionalism. The specialist will build relationships, foster positive communication, and develop strategic plans to achieve goals at a high donor potential hospital. The position requires a solution-based approach when engaging with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to facilitate organ/tissue donation and drive process improvement. The role involves timely onsite responses to organ referrals, collaboration with the Administrator-on-Call (AOC) to determine suitability of organ referrals, and planning/implementing training and education on the donation program for hospital staff to improve metrics. A key responsibility is determining the appropriate approach strategy for potential donors' next-of-kin to ensure a compassionate, sensitive, and effective offering of organ and tissue donation. This role may require frequent travel between hospitals within a designated region and flexibility for non-traditional hours. Reliable transportation is required. As a condition of employment, the candidate must be able to attain Hospital Badge and EMR Access from all LifeGift Hospital Partners. This is a shift role working on-site at one of their hospital partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, or a combined total of 5 years education and experience in healthcare, marketing, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to interpret and synthesize clinical information from medical charts.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years of OPO or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Experience in public speaking, sales/marketing, data analysis, and/or strategic planning preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides timely onsite responses to organ referrals in assigned hospital.
  • Collaborates with LifeGift’s Administrator-on-Call (AOC) to determine suitability of organ referrals and determine next steps following initial evaluation of potential organ donors.
  • Plan, implement and administer training and education on all aspects of the donation program for all applicable hospital staff including medical staff with the intent to improve metrics.
  • Determines the appropriate approach strategy for the potential donor’s next-of-kin to ensure a compassionate, sensitive, and effective approach when offering the option of organ and tissue donation.
  • Solution based approach when engaging with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to facilitate organ/tissue donation and foster process improvement initiatives.
