About The Position
We are seeking a kind, reliable, and patient female helper to support a 74-year-old woman who is largely independent but experiences balance and mobility difficulties. She uses a walker and may need a steady hand when walking or getting in and out of transportation. Her family lives upstairs but has work and family responsibilities, so she would like support that allows her to remain independent and active without relying on them. This role is best suited for a helper who can provide steady, respectful mobility support while encouraging independence. The ideal helper will be comfortable navigating NYC with the client and assisting her safely with transportation, appointments, and everyday activities.
Requirements
- Kind, reliable, and patient female helper
- Comfortable assisting someone who uses a walker
- Patient and safety-conscious
- Reliable and respectful of the client's independence
- No personal vehicle required
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with NYC public transportation and/or Uber is a plus
- Must be comfortable accompanying the client outside the home
Responsibilities
- Provide mobility and walking support
- Assist with getting her walker on and off the bus
- Help her safely get in and out of Uber rides
- Accompany her to doctor's appointments
- Accompany her when visiting her husband at his facility
- Provide support when she goes out in the community
- Assist with light housekeeping in her small apartment
- Provide companionship and general assistance as needed
