About The Position

This role involves delivering excellent customer service and adhering to Lowe’s service standards. The In-Home Sales Specialist will conduct in-home consultations to understand customer needs and recommend suitable home improvement products and services. This position requires becoming a subject-matter expert on all product offerings and acting as a trusted advisor for customers. The specialist is expected to meet or exceed sales goals through effective closing and solution-based selling techniques, while building strong client relationships by actively listening and providing tailored recommendations. Following up with potential customers, especially during promotional periods, and maintaining strong relationships with stores, associates, and regional partners are key aspects of the role. The position also involves maintaining a healthy sales pipeline by generating new business and managing ongoing customer interactions. Regular check-ins with the Services Territory Sales Manager will be required for detailed updates. Clear communication with customers regarding product features, benefits, lead times, warranties, and installation processes is essential. The role includes capturing accurate in-home measurements, confirming product selections, and securing commitment on next steps, including follow-ups. Preparation for appointments involves coordinating product samples, materials, and customer information. Confirming appointments 24 hours in advance and ensuring all necessary tools and materials are ready are also part of the responsibilities. Collaboration with general contractors, installers, and project teams for quoting, selling, and producing accurate job files is necessary. Ensuring all project documents, contracts, proposals, and pricing worksheets are completed according to company standards is required. Submitting paperwork and project information to store teams for timely and accurate project execution, and maintaining organized project folders, clean samples, and required collateral for demonstrations are also key duties. Adherence to all safety protocols during in-home visits and in-store is mandatory to ensure the safety of customers, associates, and oneself.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
  • 2+ years of outside sales experience, preferably in in-home, direct-to-consumer, or consultative sales.
  • Experience meeting or exceeding sales targets in a quota-driven environment.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly in face-to-face interactions.
  • Ability to accurately measure and assess project needs in customer homes.
  • Proficiency in using mobile devices, CRM systems, and digital tools for scheduling, quoting, and documentation.
  • Physical ability to safely navigate customer homes, carry product samples, and stand for extended periods as needed.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain an active sales pipeline.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and ability to pass MVR screen in accordance with company requirements.
  • If the state or local municipality requires a salesperson license for this position, you must either be licensed or pass the requisite licensing exam within sixty (60) days of starting employment in this position.
