About The Position

Improvement Specialists play a crucial role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. They are responsible for demonstrating, teaching, and supporting administrators, clinicians, and front-line staff in applying continuous improvement thinking and techniques to solve organizational challenges. Improvement Specialists lead and mentor improvement projects, aiding operational leaders and staff in eliminating waste and enhancing quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts OR Bachelor of Science OR Bachelor Degree Nursing OR Equivalent
  • Demonstrate basic capabilities with Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of business operations and process improvement as typically acquired with 1-3 years relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Pursue ongoing learning through experimentation and identify opportunities to enhance OI processes.
  • Achieve and maintain proficiencies listed in the OI Professional Development tracker.
  • Model and teach components of the management and improvement systems to leaders and frontline staff.
  • Contribute to the development of the Organizational Improvement infrastructure, including Continuous Improvement (CI) best practices, tools, and methods for CI education, while promoting CI thinking throughout the organization.
  • Foster an environment of teamwork, respect, challenge, going to see, and kaizen (continuous improvement) among OI team members.
  • Demonstrate understanding and support of the organization’s mission, vision, and values, and comply with applicable policies and standards of excellence.
  • Maintain all required training and certifications necessary for the role and employment with the Health System.
  • Guide others in preparing for, executing, and completing event-based improvements.
  • Teach and support process owners at all levels in learning and applying CI and thinking.
  • Educate employees and leadership on the Health System’s values and CI efforts using various media.
  • Ensure that assigned events meet quality and production standards throughout all phases of the event and project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with process owners to assess and identify problems and opportunities, coordinate improvement team activities, identify resources, and develop schedules to ensure timely project completion.
  • Identify and address gaps in standards related to Organizational Improvement transformation with the OI team.
  • Coach process owners to track and report results from improvement efforts.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and report preparation to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Establish effective working relationships and manage communications with project sponsors, oversight group members, process owners, and key stakeholders.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
