About The Position

The Import Specialist will manage the end-to-end import process for ocean and air shipments. This includes carrier booking, documentation review, and customs clearance coordination. The role involves preparing, reviewing, and auditing import documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Coordination with customs brokers, carriers, overseas offices, and warehouses is essential for timely release and delivery of shipments. The specialist will monitor shipment status, proactively resolve issues, and ensure compliance with CBP, ISF, and other import regulations. Communication of shipment updates and requirements to clients and internal stakeholders is key. The role also involves maintaining accurate shipment files and supporting process improvements.

Requirements

  • Manage the end-to-end import process for ocean and air shipments, including carrier booking, documentation review, and customs clearance coordination.
  • Prepare, review, and audit import documentation such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs entries to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, carriers, overseas offices, and warehouses to ensure timely release and delivery of shipments.
  • Monitor shipment status and proactively identify and resolve delays, discrepancies, or compliance issues before they impact the customer.
  • Ensure compliance with CBP, ISF, and other applicable import regulations, keeping current on changes in trade compliance requirements.
  • Communicate shipment updates, exceptions, and documentation requirements clearly and promptly to clients, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate, organized shipment files within the company's operating system and support continuous improvement of import processes.
