About The Position

We are currently seeking an Import / Export Advisor to support US Import and Export programs, and assist us in developing strategic sourcing solutions and bid support for our two dynamic markets: Advanced Technology Solutions and Connectivity & Cloud Solutions.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of an electronics manufacturing environment, material and processes.
  • Expert knowledge of the US Tariff Schedule and duty minimization programs.
  • Expert understanding and interpretation of rules of origin and customs valuation rules and regulations.
  • Good understanding of internal and external customer requirements.
  • Good financial, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve high complexity process/system problems using financial, analytical, and/or statistical models.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem-solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Six to eight years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Educational requirements may vary by geography.

Responsibilities

  • Works to ensure import shipments and documentation are in compliance with applicable US customs law.
  • Acts as a liaison with customs offices.
  • Collects and analyzes compliance data for trends and potential cost savings programs such as NAFTA, US 9802 - return after repair and the use of Temporary Import Bonds, etc.
  • Evaluates and selects brokers for clearance of product.
  • Analyzes import data for internal and external charges.
  • Interfaces with customers on product classifications and sourcing strategies.
  • Responsible for process development and reengineering related to import transactions and duty management.
  • Provides leadership, expertise, guidance and training to the supply chain, commodity, procurement and program management functions, ensuring that the latest practices and procedures are followed.
  • Interfaces with various levels of Celestica management to ensure processes are in place and working such that we maintain compliance with compliance processes.
