Primary Purpose: The successful candidate will, with the support of a Research Coordinator, lead the implementation of a communication strategy within the Royal University Hospital ICU that improves patient and family-centered care, and reduces ICU healthcare provider workload. This work aims to transform how communication occurs at RUH ICU by using co-created solutions and Design Thinking to centre the experiences of patients, families and ICU healthcare providers. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping a scalable model for patient and family-centered care in at RUH ICU. Nature of Work: Under the supervision of Dr. Valiani and in collaboration with the Research Coordinator, the Nursing Implementation Lead will: Facilitate a co-creative process engaging patient family partners, ICU healthcare providers (social work, respiratory therapy, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy), and ICU leadership that seeks to: Collaboratively develop the components of a communication strategy with this multidisciplinary team, based on work developed by the Connect-ICU research team. Collaboratively implement the communication strategy, using iterative feedback from the broader ICU team. Support evaluation of the communication strategy, including development of an implementation toolkit and other knowledge translation activities. This project is supported by the Women Leading Philanthropy Grant from the RUH Foundation, and is an 18 month project-based position. The position requires in-person engagement at RUH ICU for the listed time commitment.
