As an Immunology Medical Science Liaison, you will be instrumental in channeling our scientific expertise to positively impact patients' lives. The BioPharmaceuticals Business Unit (BBU) develops and implements impactful therapeutic area and product strategies aimed at addressing global unmet patient needs. We are committed to advancing medicine and delivering innovative therapies to improve patient quality of life. The BBU integrates commercial, market access, medical, digital, and corporate functions to drive scientific development and commercial excellence in the key areas of respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, and immunology. You will be a vital part of evolving AstraZeneca's influence on practice change through innovative technological advancements, targeting diseases with high burden and low guideline-based medical care. Our mission is to collaborate with healthcare practitioners to decrease acute episodes, disease complications, hospital admissions, and premature mortality. Requirements

  • Advanced Clinical/Science Degree required (e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA-C)
  • 0-2 Years Experience in a Clinical or Commercial setting
  • Thorough understanding of healthcare system landscape and market dynamics
  • Established networks and/or clinical experience within TA area focus
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Excellent project management ability
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment
  • Ability to travel 50-70% (percentage varies with geography)

Nice To Haves

  • MSL experience is preferred
  • Doctoral level degree in scientific or medical discipline (e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD)
  • Established experience delivering quality improvement initiatives
  • 2+ years’ experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Established track record of basic or clinical research
  • Immunology, rheumatology, or dermatology experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's lupus marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development.
  • Engage in scientific exchange with targeted Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Key Decision Makers (KDMs), and Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) in alignment with Medical Affairs and Therapeutic Brand Team objectives.
  • Identify and engage key customers with scientific expertise and business knowledge of AstraZeneca's products and compounds in development.
  • Develop peer-level relationships with Key Decision Makers (KDMs), HCPs, and researchers consistent with Scientific and Medical Affairs strategy.
  • Identify pre-clinical, clinical, and post-marketing study investigators in alignment with Clinical Development goals and Therapeutic Brand Team initiatives.
  • Uncover barriers to optimal disease management and identify areas of opportunity and readiness for improving patient outcomes.
  • Provide actionable information that enhances the value and appropriate use of AstraZeneca’s products to internal stakeholders.
  • Respond to customer inquiries to ensure focused and balanced clinical and scientific information that supports the appropriate use of AstraZeneca’s products and services.
  • Deliver appropriate clinical and scientific information that clinically differentiates AstraZeneca’s products.
  • Adhere to internal standard processes and comply with regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Sustain expertise in disease state management, emerging therapies, and the competitive landscape.
  • Provide clinical support and deliver data presentations regionally and nationally.
  • Demonstrate project leadership and management within the field medical team and therapeutic area.
  • Provide training and mentoring within the therapeutic area, offering performance guidelines and coaching.
