About The Position

Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms, with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire an Immigration Paralegal that would report to the Senior Manager of Legal Practice Support. Our internationally-recognized immigration practice is dynamic and collegial, with excellent opportunities for professional growth, and the tools and support of one of the world’s largest full-service law firms. Based in either our Washington D.C, Dallas, or Miami office, this position offers a flexible, hybrid in-office/remote working arrangement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 2 years of business immigration experience, preferably in a law firm setting
  • Experience with immigrant and non-immigrant petitions and applications
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel within the organization and with external clients
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment
  • Attention to details
  • Good independent judgment
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines, and work overtime as needed
  • Remain calm in the face of pressure

Responsibilities

  • Under close supervision and guidance of immigration legal staff and attorneys, prepare and file nonimmigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications such as I-140 EB-1/2/3, AOS, H-1B, L-1, E-1/2/3, O-1, EAD, AP, J-1, etc.
  • Interface with clients to gather needed information and documents required for the preparation of petitions and applications
  • Ensure that clients are kept apprised of the progress of their cases
  • Respond to immigration inquiries in a timely manner
  • Enter, update, and maintain data in immigration case management system
  • Manage caseload and timely completion of work
  • Track and manage critical deadlines
  • Run active cases workload and client NIV expiration reports in immigration case management system
  • Attend team meetings and continue educational programs/seminars
  • Enter and close time entries in the Firm’s time recording system
  • Apply understanding of legal and ethical principles that guide paralegal conduct, including, but not limited to the unauthorized practice of law, confidentiality and attorney-client privilege, conflicts of interest, and GDPR compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
