The International Institute of New England (IINE) is a non-profit organization serving refugees and immigrants in Boston, MA, Lowell, MA, and Manchester, NH. They offer internships to students, graduate students, and recent graduates who have a demonstrated interest or experience in supporting refugee, asylee, and immigrant populations. Each internship includes an educational component for reflection and contextualization. All internships are unpaid and align with the US semester system. The Summer Internship runs from June through mid-August 2026, with applications requested by May 2nd. Priority is given to applicants who can commit at least 16 hours per week. Exceptions to the schedule are made on a case-by-case basis, and early applications are encouraged as slots fill quickly. This internship will be conducted remotely, with all hours performed online. The IINE Immigration Legal Services team provides legal assistance in various immigration matters, including applications for citizenship, legal permanent residence, parole extensions, work authorization, family reunification, and humanitarian immigration cases. Interns may assist with document review, preparing immigration forms, file management, legal research, and data analysis. Opportunities to observe client consultations and meetings with legal representatives may also be available.
