About The Position

This role coordinates youth programming for refugee and immigrant youth (K-12), developing, managing, and evaluating programs focused on welcoming, orienting, mentoring, and inspiring youth success. The position involves working within a cross-disciplinary team to provide cultural orientation, English language development, school integration, career and post-secondary educational options, and cross-cultural curiosity with a trauma-informed lens. The coordinator will explore, implement, and advocate for innovative methods to address youth's evolving needs, both internally and externally with schools and other youth-serving bodies. Collaboration with parents and families is key to coordinating activities, understanding priorities, and supporting family harmony.

Requirements

  • MSW or Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Child Development, Adolescent Psychology, Non-profit Administration, Anthropology, etc.).
  • Experience in program planning and development.
  • Strong administrative management and organizational skills with a keen focus on details required for government and foundation grant compliance.
  • Good interpersonal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team as well as with external stakeholders such as schools and other youth serving organizations.
  • Cultural humility and openness to learning.
  • Must have access to a reliable vehicle, insurance, and valid driver's license.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and assess programming for youth and their families through support groups, art, language acquisition, mentoring, and fun activities.
  • Provide opportunities for youth leadership development.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate programming for students K-12 through curriculum development.
  • Develop individualized career pathway plans with youth clients.
  • Maintain accurate data on youth outcomes and milestone achievements.
  • Contribute to accurate, timely reports and data for audits by granting agencies.
  • Implement data tracking processes to ensure accurate tracking of grant outcomes.
  • Ensure and coordinate case notes, case files, and other required documentation is collected, completed, and stored appropriately in adherence with agency and funder requirements.
  • Refine program processes and activities based on consistent quality improvement and evaluation.
  • Support mutually beneficial collaborations with community organizations and schools.
  • Coordinate JFCS staff within various external agencies and schools and provide consistent, timely, and high-quality programming.
  • Coordinate volunteers, mentors and interns involved with the program, as appropriate.
  • Identify emerging needs in the immigrant and refugee youth community appropriate for JFCS to address.
  • Develop new program approaches to address emerging needs identified by parents, community leaders, and teachers.
  • Evaluate and modify existing departmental programs to better meet youth needs.
  • Develop and implement, in consultation with the JFCS Marketing & Communications team, a marketing plan for all JFCS youth programs.
  • Assist the Marketing Department in the production of various marketing and fundraising materials.
  • Promote the work done by JFCS at various professional and community settings.
  • Provide public presentations on behalf of JFCS.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
