About The Position

World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization seeking an Immigrant Case Worker to provide case management to refugee and immigrant families. This role involves offering cultural adjustment support, orientations, referrals, and mediation services to promote successful community integration. The position is based in Chicago and may require travel to clients in northern Chicago and surrounding suburbs. The ideal candidate is compassionate, advocates for justice, and is driven by a desire to serve vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and appropriate services to newly arriving refugee families during their first 90 days post-arrival, including health screenings, public aid enrollment, documentation, internet access, clothing/household items, and English class enrollment.
  • Conduct home visits and assessments with refugee families.
  • Provide initial and ongoing orientations to life in the United States and assist in creating initial budgets.
  • Conduct additional screenings and follow-up evaluations for cases with minors traveling alone.
  • Coordinate interdepartmentally on resettlement details such as furniture, basic needs, grocery provisioning, utility connections, airport reception, and transportation.
  • Provide referrals to legal services for adjustments of status and other community resources.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop individual service plans, and facilitate connections to appropriate services.
  • Ensure ongoing provision of timely and appropriate services to foster integration, including referrals.
  • Provide education/orientation on budgeting, paying housing/utility bills, and connect clients to financial resources.
  • Provide mediation services between clients and outside entities (neighbors, landlords, volunteers, service providers, etc.).
  • Coordinate interdepartmentally to provide wrap-around services.
  • Assist in conducting workshops for client education and orientation to life in the US.
  • Maintain timely and accurate client files, case notes, and reporting records.
  • Actively participate in department meetings, staff development, program trainings, community activities, and organizational events.
  • Provide supervision and accountability for department interns.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and Volunteer Services staff to support client service plan goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
