The Injection Molding Engineering Technician (IMM Engineering Technician) demonstrates mastery in troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, process development, and continuous improvement of Injection Molding Machinery (IMM). This role serves as a technical expert supporting production operations, equipment reliability, process optimization, and technician development. The position provides emergency troubleshooting support, leads improvement initiatives, and contributes to validation, CAPA, and process excellence activities while demonstrating Johnson & Johnson Standards of Leadership.

Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years of college in a technical discipline (or equivalent), emphasizing electro-mechanical systems and IMM training, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Proven process knowledge.
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of IMM maintenance or engineering experience in a high-volume Injection Molding environment, preferably within continuous operations.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates mastery of troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair in conjunction with the following areas by meeting qualification standards: Process improvement, IMM Knowledge, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems, Electro-mechanical devices, Robotic /Servo systems, Safety Devices, Equipment installation, Debug and Qualification, Control circuitry development, Electro-mechanical troubleshooting/repair, Equipment prototyping, Production start-up, IMM equipment process development and mechanical devices and controllers
  • Operates and maintains the IMM Machines. (65%)
  • Demonstrates mastery in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of IMM machinery and associated systems. Provides emergency response for machine troubleshooting and repair. (10%)
  • Provides emergency response for process troubleshooting and repair. (10%)
  • Records all equipment downtime, machine repairs, audits, and non-conformance events in the maintenance management system.
  • Demonstrates solid understanding of process improvements by meeting qualification standards in at least one of the following areas: Key Process Indicators (KPI), Lean Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Gap Analysis, Prioritization Matrix, Key Process Indicators, Other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Serves as a key contributor in the design of experiments, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), protocols, validations, and all other projects supporting the business by coordinating or leading improvement activities.
  • Participates in Process Excellence initiatives. (5%)
